Chinwe Chukwuogo-Roy

The Institute of Commonwealth Studies is saddened to receive the news that Chinwe Chukwuogo-Roy passed away on 17 December 2012 following a long battle with cancer. An internationally respected artist, Chukwuogo-Roy achieved particular prominence with her portrait of the Queen as Head of the Commonwealth which was commissioned for the Golden Jubilee Year of 2002. Chukwuogo-Roy was also  a good friend of the Institute of Commonwealth Studies and several of her works are on display in the Institute. Most recently, in January 2012, Chukwuogo-Roy formed part of the panel at a major event at the Institute, along with the former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, and HRH The Princess Royal in her capacity as Chancellor of the University of London, to consider the role of the British Monarchy, as part of the Institute's Diamond Jubilee Seminar Series.
