The online panel discussion, Stocktake on the modern Commonwealth: Should Britain try and lead? is part of a series of events being organised by the Institute of Commonwealth Studies, to assess the recent evolution of the Commonwealth, and the contemporary policy challenges confronting the association and its individual members. The discussion will assess British policy and future direction, now that Britain has stepped down as Chair in Office; the changing place of civil society in the Commonwealth, given the growing assertion of states' rights; the press view of Britain’s role at the recent Commonwealth summit in June, and limits of media narratives; and the opposition’s view of the relative value of the Commonwealth.
Chair: Dr Sue Onslow (Director, Institute of Commonwealth Studies).
Speakers will be confirmed shortly.
