ICwS Director joins UN human rights expert group in Philippines

In July, the ICwS’ Director, Kingsley Abbott, joined an expert group working in the Philippines on the investigation of potentially unlawful deaths in accordance with international law and standards. The expert group, headed by the United Nations Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, worked with the United Nations Joint Programme for Human Rights to deliver a training on the revised Minnesota Protocol. The training was attended by over 20 members of the Philippines justice sector, medical experts and civil society. While serving at the International Commission of Jurists, Kingsley Abbott played a role in drafting and conducting trainings on the revised Minnesota Protocol around the world.
