Promoting and protecting the right to free expression remains a key priority for the modern Commonwealth. Our team is committed to raising awareness supporting free speech in context of these issues. We promote interdisciplinary and policy driven research and advocate that free speech remains a fundamental human right and a corner stone for functioning democracies. The ICwS supports interdisciplinary and policy driven research within the media sphere across the 56 Commonwealth member countries on three areas:

  • Digital transparency,
  • Digital rights; and
  • Digital soft power
